"It’s all about finding your artwork"

Discover the world of art

About Art makes it easy to choose and buy art. Uniquely, we enable you to make an initial selection by choosing artworks and placing them in My Gallery. To do so, you click on the My Gallery button at the bottom right of a piece in the Art Shop. You can then see and judge for yourself how these specific works fit within an interior, with or above a particular piece of furniture – making it easy to make your final choice. To buy an artwork, you click on the My Cart button.

At About Art, you can also choose from four different contemporary frames, depending on your personal preference. You can have the work framed with a passe-partout or 'floating' (without a passe-partout).  After ordering, the piece will be delivered to your home within 10 working days. About Art also provides tips about the right hanging height and other relevant issues when hanging artworks,  plus interesting information about the artists, including their biographies and working methods. About Art also explains the various art movements and terms used in the art world.

Rob Scholte

Rob Scholte (Amsterdam, 1958) lived in Castricum, Doorn, and then Heiloo. From 1977 to 1982, he studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Rob Scholte has developed his own technique for producing his works. He groups images from the mass media and from his extensive archive, and places them in a different context, thus lending the images a different meaning. The contradictions and antitheses are 'overcome' within a new context. The paintings from Rob Scholte contain various elements that obtain their own regularity due to the theme, composition, colour, humour and tension. His sources are the history of art, the printed media, advertising, video clips and strip cartoons. This is where he gains his inspiration; expressing criticism of their manipulation and also making an appearance himself as a 'media personality'..

Choosing art

About Art makes it easy to choose art. We do so by shedding light on art and art movements, but above all by offering artworks that really appeal to you and by helping you find your own style to suit your interior. Because the size of an artwork is crucial to the effect in a particular space, we offer the unique My Gallery application. If you see an artwork that appeals to you, simply add it to your list of personal favourites by clicking on the My Gallery button. . You can then see how this specific work of art scales and looks above various interior objects, instantly revealing how the work relates to the space around it.

Choosing art

impressions

About Art shows you how the artwork of your choice fits within an interior; above a desk, armchair or day bed; on a dark wall or a light wall. With the help of our stylists, About Art has created a number of impressions to underline the effect of art in an interior.

Often your first thought will be to hang an artwork, but with smaller sizes in particular, placing the piece on a mantelpiece, bookcase or headboard can also work really well. You can also make a unique combination of works by different artists and of different sizes by placing them in collage form. Dare to experiment and see what works!
